Materials Research Exchange 2020

On 18th February 2020 members of the METaL Project team travelled to the Business Design Centre in London to take part in the Materials Research Exchange 2020.

This event, hosted by the Knowledge Transfer Network, provides a platform to showcase and enable the commercial success of UK-generated materials innovation.

A range of research organisations, SMEs and universities exhibited demonstrating the wealth of materials in development.  Swansea University were very well represented with many projects in attendance, each project being allocated a section of the stand dependant on their area of expertise:

  1. Metals and Coatings
  1. Energy in Buildings
  1. Training and Skills

Keynote speakers included Professor Sir Mark Walport, Chief Executive Officer, UK Research & Innovation, Lord Whitby, President of Surface Engineering Association, Dr Ian Campbell, Interim Executive Chair, Innovate UK, and Dr Alicia Greated, Chief Executive Officer, KTN, to name a few.

MRE 2020 provided a great opportunity to unite eleven materials projects and facilities from Swansea University on one stand, under the University brand.
